A Safer Memphis
Serious crime is down to its lowest levels in 25 years, with homicides falling 30% in Mayor Young’s first year alone. The turnaround came from a data-driven strategy pairing law enforcement with community intervention through the Group Violence Intervention Program and the Joint Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement. Three days into office, Mayor Young launched a public safety task force with local, state, and federal partners and appointed Darren M. Goods as the city’s first Public Safety Advisor.

Youth Opportunity
Through the MPLOY summer employment program, Memphis delivered a banner year for youth employment in 2025 — and the city is committed to growing the program to 3,000 paid youth jobs every year.

Blight Zero
Mayor Young launched Blight Zero, a citywide initiative pairing neighborhood cleanups with code enforcement to tackle the property deterioration and disinvestment that has held back too many Memphis neighborhoods for too long.
